Which one is the best filling type?

The same type of filling may not be suitable for each tooth. The correct type of filling is determined based on the size of the decay, allergy to certain substances, location and cost of filling.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF FILLINGS?

It is a very durable and economical filling, but its appearance is not aesthetic. It is prepared by mixing the dust composed of 70% silver, 23% tin, a small amount of copper and zinc with mercury. However, it is not preferred today as it is not aesthetic.

Generally, inlays are used when it is difficult to achieve success in the fillings applied in the routine where material loss is high. Inlays are cast fillings. After measuring the groove shaped for filling, it is prepared from porcelain in the laboratory and glued to the teeth.

Most of the ones used today contain “Light Sensitive” substances and are therefore they are hardened using a special light source. Composite fillings hardened with light are made in one session. They can be reliably used on both front and rear teeth. The structures of those who will be used in the rear group teeth have been exceptionally developed to withstand the chewing forces. Because it has a wide range of color options, excellent results can be achieved aesthetically.

Advantages of Composite Fillings

  • They can be polished immediately following the filling procedure.
  • It can be used not only for restoration of the decay of the tooth, but also for cosmetic treatments by changing the color and shape of the teeth.
  • With the advancing technology, they are as durable as amalgam fillings.

It is prepared at the laboratory upon order and applied by gluing it to its place. Gold fillings have good tolerance for gingival diseases and can be used for more than 20 years. For these reasons, gold is considered to be the best filling material. It is the most expensive choice and is applied in multiple sessions.
