Frenectomy

Frenectomy

Lip ties (frenulum) adhered to the top of the maxillofacial bone result in shorter prosthesis limits in toothless patients resulting in reduced prosthesis adhesion. For patients with teeth, this lip tie (frenulum) causes a distance (diastema) between the two teeth. The tongue tie (frenum) may be short to restrict tongue movements and adversely affect speech. For this reason, tongue and lip ties must be surgically removed if they cause functional and aesthetic problems.
